They skipped every non-Kumoko/White PoV. Essentially half the story is missing. This isn't supposed to be the Pope's introduction, his proper introduction was supposed to be the last arc where he talked with Ariel/Sophia/Mera.

From what I remember other people saying, what was skipped was the flashforwards focusing on the human hero party ~15 years in the future. Remember the anime? Yeah, all the human scenes in the future were skipped.

I personally like the way the manga is making things more streamlined in terms of timeline. Some people said that the lightnovel didn't connected the two timelines well near the end, leaving a lot of plot points unanswered and having a really meh ending. I never read the LNs, so all I can say for certain is that I hope the mangaka is doing this streamline in a way that will at least lessen the LN's shortcomings. The Arachne at least is way better designed here in my opinion, so that's sure a win in my book.

It does not only skip the Shun chapters, it skips everything. It skipped the Sophia chapters. It skipped the Ariel chapters where Sophia/Ariel/Mera met the pope in the city which was what got Mera so moody among other things, it skipped the other wills going rampage in the Elro Labyrinth before eventually deciding to wipe out humanity which the MC had to stop, Ronandt running around naked being crazy was skipped. And so much more of things that weren't flashforwards.

Probably because it is kinda hard to understand the japanese names if you don't know japanese. And they are kinda supposed to tell you enough to attract you to it.
For example, in this story the translated name would tell me the MC is or became a spider. As a non-japanese speaker I would have had no idea from just the japanese words and the cover that, while it does have a spider, also got a normal girl that I guess is the MC before dying.

Unless you mean something different.

My meaning, it's a name game to some people. The original series is Japanese and title was too. I don't know Japanese either but if watch anime and read the subtitles. Certain words and sayings are learned. Google translate helps.

Original Russian manga is almost a 100% exception. English titles from the start. I can't read Japanese or Russian. So Russian titles in English helps. Eventually you learn the Japanese titlenames and follow them. If you are not sure if the title is any good the rating system here (MD) is a good indicator. 7+ good, 8+ very good. <7 take your chances.

Ok, good for a laff response. Where can I buy a mangodex (is that the seedless mango ?) sounds delicious. Some translations I would consider littering. So "transliterated" sounds about right.

From what I understand at some point you'll in options have the ability to choose what's the main title you see.

Edited for clarity Eventually in the options of the forums you'll be able to set which is the prefered language you see titles in.
