If the people in charge of providing you with accurate information is actually doing the opposite of that it is impossible to make good decisions. So i dont think the king is disinterested just missinformed thanks to corruption in the staff.
He is not a good king though, as letting your staff be corrupted and be ignorant about it is a big sign of a bad king.

jealous I would bet, countries are doing diplomacy about him, throwing riches and hot ladies at him and most of all acknowledging his value without second intentions...
except for dragon lady, kind of a bum that he knows that when he dies he's gonna end on her belly.

Given the captain's dodging it's more likely they did everything possible to hide it from the king so after X amount of time of him being gone he gives in and marries off his son. Not much reason for him to believe his best mage, and guardian of the whole kingdom, was kicked out even if he hears it as rumors from multiple countries.

I dont think it necessarily works like that when it comes to all the kingdom stuff, arranged marriages are seen as "thier duty", and if she broke the engagement it would potentially bring shame to her household, or at the very least pose a bad image to the kingdom.Why didn't the girl just ask MC to drop the marriage? In fact, they got rid of him on the day the engagement was announced, so why not just speak to him first? Why the convoluted plan that puts the country at risk? Even if the barrier stayed up permanently, you're still getting rid of your powerful and renowned magician.
It's unfortunate that it seems the king (and therefore the country) actually do appreciate MC, because it means that they're ruined by the selfish desires of just a few people in power... but isn't that always the way.

Stupid knight commander, how do you plan to catch the guy who single handedly erected an inpenetrable barrier over the whole country. I can't condone her actions, but I can understand how his ex, a high rank noble daughter, might be dissatisfied being ordered to marry a commoner court mage if the crown prince of the country was also available. Still should get her retribution, like getting eaten by Fey so she can grow a bit more.

Wow, I mean wow. It's amazing how much the quality of a story can drop in a single chapter. We had a fun, albeit cliche, story going, with a banished OP character who actually KNOWS he's OP, an OP dragon girl life partner, and a lovestruck disciple. It was on good pace.
Now, in a single chapter, that story has been intruded on by two unwanted women with severely obnoxious personalities, which have infected our lovestruck disciple with a little bit of the same obnoxiousness, all of whom are disregarding the MC's wishes, and been shown that our primary antagonists are dumber than a pair of comedic lackeys from an 80's cartoon villain.
The only two (non-eye-candy) upside I can see to this chapter is finding out that the king of the land MC was banished from seems to have a decent enough head on his shoulders to know the value of the MC and that the OP dragon girl lifemate truly plans to stick around for life, fully ready to be besties until he's old and senile, where she'll then eat him and take his power, which MC seems pretty ok with. Honestly, that last part seems like a great, lifelong friendship.
Here's hoping that future chapters can make these two characters who seem like they're not going away become more tolerable, otherwise, they might just become more annoying and ruin the rest of the series.
