A truly stupid series of events. Why would you ever choose this plan? The demons have been shown to be pretty brutal. If Shield dies, they're still going to kill all the pirates and dark elves. The emotions shown are totally wrong for the actual known outcome of the plan. They're acting like they've won when they should be shown going like we're taking you down with us.

I just read through this entire series and it feels like every couple chapters we skip a couple. Instead of the story walking it feels like it's skipping.

Well at least it's not quite as dumb as I was thinking, I was assuming it would just be "oh no I forgot to put my shield back on from earlier in the chapter because taking it on+off is something I hardly ever do, whoops!"

But having this be how it goes, instead of him realizing that removing a barrier mid-combat is stupid + he should just use a demon instead who doesn't care about his barrier, is kinda funny. Especially when the reason for doing it is because your ship was attacked, and you should know there's a high likelihood of you specifically being targeted.

I think the putting him a situation to remove the shield plan is pretty decent all things considered. Obviously he already put a shield around him and the griffin like @RequiemSymphony suggests and all will come to nothing, but it's a better plan than I expected

It really does, and not in a simple nothing happened for a while way, but it feels like stuff is happening, and we're just not there to see it. Tis why this is fantasy trash.
