Never forget that the first 25 chapters did not involve the brother at all and she never exhibited any of this. We had actual progress with the rainstorm arc.

But it’s no exaggeration to say that literally every single chapter since the brother was introduced, has been somehow based around the brother and her feelings for the brother. This was forced onto us. And I hate it.

If the brother was the main love interest then they would be a completely different story but this is just NTR with extra steps

those 'extra steps' are what makes it safe though, because it's not like she's actually gonna hook up with her brother

if you're gonna write a story where the main heroine is more interested in someone other than MC while you watch her attention shift (slowly) toward MC then -> brother is the safe way to do it

Yeah, and it's fun to see characters get jealous. It gets annoying when things turn into a competition with multiple girls fighting over the guy, but a lil bit of conflict is always fun.
