There are quite a lot of good reasons why an age-gap relationship with a very young person is not a good idea, but his reasoning for breaking it off is not very good. It's all about career development in his mind, which kind of makes sense, because he's been completely indoctrinated in this thought pattern by the inhumane work culture he suffers under.
