Hey you! Yeah you! Don't you love it when you dig deep into a manga site and find obscure or older stuff to read and you end up loving the heck out of it? 🤩 But find it sad when only a few chapters are available, or the series went out of print so it's nearly impossible to find? 😢 Then you'll love Kurotronic Scans! 😎

Come join Kurotronic Scans, for oldies, goldies, and obscure manga goodness!

We are a brand new bilingual scanlation group, specializing in translating obscure, old, dropped, or out-of-print manga in both English and Arabic. We just released our first work this week, the first chapter of Pita-Ten by Koge-Donbo* in Arabic over on our website. The group currently consists of only two members, me and another fellow who's currently doing cleaning and re-drawing. We welcome first-timers, no previous experience needed! (Check out our scanlating guide we made ourselves if you're new to scanlation! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b0rqRq0CmVtnR2Ym-en0XGk60J_3bVPQwxns4-HNJj4/edit?usp=sharing But in order to start up English releases, we (desperately) need members in all positions, especially:

- JTL (Japanese to English Translators)
- CTL (Chinese to English Translators)
- Cleaners

We have some super fun projects planned for English releases, including:
1. Chocomimi
220px-ChocoMimi_vol_1.jpg

This is a cute and funny 4-koma manga about two best friends who love fashion and their wacky everyday adventures. The artist, Konami Sonoda, sadly passed away from breast cancer last year. This was her only official manga. This manga was previously licensed by Viz Kids, but they stopped licensing/production in the middle of the series years ago, and it's never been scanlated. I've managed to obtain all (completed) 10 volumes of it so we'd like to begin work on it right away for preservation.

2. Mashiro No Oto
Mashiro_no_Oto_20_jp.jpg

This is an exciting take on a traditional form of Japanese music by the highly amazing Marimo Ragawa (creator of Baby & Me & New York, New York.) It tells the story of a young man who loves playing the shamisen (a traditional Japanese instrument,) but is distraught by the passing of his grandfather who taught him and his brother to play the shamisen. He drops out of school & moves to Tokyo to start a new life, but he doesn't know what to do besides play the shamisen. This manga has only ever had it's prologue scanlated in English & was never licensed, despite the fact that it has 25 volumes and counting. I have the Chinese raws of almost all the volumes, so this one needs a Chinese translator. This series is also getting an anime next year!

3. Kaitou Saint Tail (Saint Tail)
Saint_Tail_manga_vol_1.jpg

This is a manga Tokyopop readers may be familiar with! It's a cute magical girl twist on a Robin Hood-style story by Megumi Tachikawa that spawned a quite popular anime by the same name in 1995. It's about a girl named Meimi Haneoka who lives a double life as a Catholic school student by day and a mysterious thief nicknamed Saint Tail by night, who robs from the rich and gives to the poor, all while being aided by her best friend Seira, a nun-in-training, and trying to avoid being found out by her classmate (and crush,) rookie detective Asuka Jr. This has only ever had two volumes scanlated, and they were the English Tokyopop versions. The series has long gone out of print, and there have been quite a few requests to pick this up again. So I took it upon our group to do just that! This one was so hard to find, but I managed to get the complete set of raws for it.

If you're interested in joining full-time or just wanna lend a hand temporarily, you can apply by filling out our form here https://forms.gle/rU9cpCX4fz1DzsUJ6 or by messaging me here on MangaDex! (Despite the fact that our mascot Kuro has fangs, we don't bite--promise!)

We'd really appreciate any and all help! I'm mostly doing this because I want to make sure these titles are properly archived and available to readers, especially if they're out of print or "lost." If you have a series that you want translated that fits our criteria, please feel free to send us suggestions on our site! Visit us at https://kurotronicscans.wordpress.com/ If you don't want to join, but still want to support us or any of these titles, that's fine too! 🤧

We'll have a Discord server soon as well for easy communication!

We await your blessed arrival! (つ✧ω✧)つ

Bump! We are in urgent need of a Japanese translator! We have already recruited quite a few typesetters, cleaners and proofreaders so now to start work on our first English release we're just waiting on a translator!

Please consider helping us out if you can! We have a lot of fun projects in store! Refer to our application form here: https://forms.gle/7F7romgDRppGSH2x7

If you're new to scanlating, feel free to check out this guide we made for a easy-to-follow summary of what each position in scanlating entails in general, and what our group specifically is looking for! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b0rqRq0CmVtnR2Ym-en0XGk60J_3bVPQwxns4-HNJj4/edit?usp=sharing

*Although we absolutely welcome first-timers, in terms of translation, we need someone who is preferably proficient in written Japanese & Chinese, can fully understand Hiragana, Katakana & Kanji, and has little to no issue translating sentences to English.

Visit our site for updates & info! https://kurotronicscans.wordpress.com/

Kurotronic Scans is still waiting for you! Do you have what it takes? Then join us today!

Bumping again with some unfortunate news

We just lost one of our members which is really disappointing and on top of that, we still have yet to find a JP to ENG translator. I'm about to give up hope but I really want to keep going and give back to the manga community I love.

I really wish I could pay all members for their hard work, but I have absolutely no means to do so. I'm a student living in a war-stricken country with poor electricity, poor internet connection, no job, and a very depressing environment. I started up this group because I wanted to occupy myself with something more positive and to be able to make other people happy as well. I deliberately chose to take on lesser known or potentially "lost" works so as to give them a chance to find readers that love them.

If you have the skills and the time to spare and you don't mind volunteering some of your time, please feel free to apply to our group. Most of the positions have been filled, but what we really need now is a Japanese translator to begin our English releases.

Our application form is here: https://forms.gle/RsP5SfVbH9iscULi9
Also check out our guide to scanlating for first-timers here!: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b0rqRq0CmVtnR2Ym-en0XGk60J_3bVPQwxns4-HNJj4/edit?usp=sharing

This is a desperate plea for some help. I wish I could be less melancholic about all this, but it really is quite discouraging :(

We appreciate any and all help. Kurotronic Scans is awaiting your arrival! Please join us today!
