I'm more than aware of how it's likely to go.

I have my personal wishes for what might happen in a manga like this, but I understand the difference between what I, an individual, would be happy with, and what is statistically likely to actually occur.

But I appreciate the constant smugness that you've been leaving through your comments over the last couple of chapters. I'm glad you're excited in your superiority in knowing the basic formulae for romcom manga, and aren't afraid to showcase it at every opportunity.
Beats bitching and moaning about the plot in a manga written for japanese teenagers because your girl lost.

His phone is at literally 1%
Completely kills the drama of him "ignoring her" when he couldn't even answer that without his phone shutting down 😂😂

I am certainly convinced that it is not just your individual preference for how this story should go. Just look at the comments on the last few chapters - Hebikawa is the only character that makes this manga actually interesting for a lot of people (dare I say, the majority). What is the argument behind going with the Kusunoki route? I also think it's very obvious that it's boring and I hope that the author is aware of this too.

If I had to guess, Hebi likely ran away from home after her creepy step-dad tried to do something to her.
That's my guess too. She is probably asking to stay at his place and will guilt trip him into allowing it.

Why would Hebi be calling him late at night? Did something happen to her and she is calling for help?

I smell a snake rescue arc incoming.
Ugh, hope not. She's an insanely unlikeable character and the story is really worse off trying to fit her in and stumbling over itself to redeem her, especially after seeing her backstory.

People are out here calling Kusunoki boring when it's been hinted at that there's stuff we don't know about (yet). The little tomboy said she changed severely between when they saw each other in elementary school for the last time and meeting again in high school. And it's been patently clear from the first chapter that her desire to do a change-up for high school isn't probably just a flight of fancy.

Would not be shocked if there was some serious drama coming our way once we finally delve into Kusunoki's past. Probably once we've resolved the issues surrounding Hebikawa.

Tomboy is the only girl in this that's worth a damn. KusOnoki is too obsessed with being popular (I swear the girl would be getting reasonable amounts of shade if she weren't a manga protag), and Hebi is... herself, she doesn't count unless she gets some serious character development.

If I see any of you talk shit about Kusunoki, we're gonna a problem here!

Y'all would prefer the romance over seeing her genuinely happy for walking around with a new friend

Y'all aren't real Kusu-heads tsk tsk
Shizuka's done nothing wrong. She's not blowing off Keisuke. She didn't know or expect that he planned to ask her to walk the festival with him because he has pussyfooted around and hasn't said anything to her. If he had asked her and she agreed THEN going with Irie instead would be blowing him off.

Phone battery at 1%. By the time he gets home, it will be dead. He'll charge it and go to sleep. Then whatever Hebikawa needed late at night wouldn't have been answered. When he wakes up in the morning, it will be too late!

This is a doom flag.
Good eye. I missed the 1% battery. I usually notice things like that.

fucking piece of shit answer your phone jackass i swear i wanna rip his head off where is a truck to ram this guy into a conveniently placed sharp object :angery:
Why? If you were walking while having a somewhat meaningful discussion with a girl you liked would you think she's a jackass for not answering her phone to talk to another guy, especially if she thought it was probably just her mother calling to ask when she'd be home?

the only thing she's done wrong is not be romance-coded as the ostensible FL of a romcom manga.
She only cares about her big HS Debut. That's her whole deal. Keisuke went and caught feelings, and now his problem is that he waited too long and was too helpful to her, so she's making it big, fulfilling her character arc, and she was written to be so perfect that she's now lapping the other characters on the Narrative Race Track - meaning Keisuke is falling so far behind that he's likely not going to be able to catch up and actually get her to notice him romantically, or get her to look at him romantically, until he takes the time to work on his own debut and issues.
Which, I suspect, is where both Hebikawa and Otobe come in. The former because she's a big part of his trauma and arc toward succeeding his debut, and the latter because she is an in to Kusunoki as a childhood friend, and also likes Keisuke, thereby potentially giving him romantic experience (or more trauma, jury's still out on that).
Until Kusunoki stops being self-obsessed (not a bad thing, but she only cares about her own needs at the moment and not Keisuke's), nothing's gonna work for Keisuke. Maybe if he gets involved with either Otobe or Hebikawa in the coming arc, Kusunoki might look back, realize he's not there at her side like he has been this whole time, and get lonely/jealous or something.

She's the FL, this is a romcom, I'm not going to be dumb and pretend the author's gonna pull a fast one and not make her the winning heroine alongside Keisuke. But as of right now, she's sidelining herself in the romance department until further notice.

Keisuke's at fault for not taking the chance when he had it. But I suspect that even if he had, it wouldn't have progressed any romance between them, and honestly might have discouraged him even more when nothing came of it at the end.

This. I think the snek pursuing the MC will make Kusonoki look back that Keisuke isn't there with her anymore. With her getting more popular and mc being occupied by snek, she'll realize it soon

Oh wow, people are turning on Kusunoki now. While I am team Hebikawa, I don't hate Kusunoki and the route she's taking. I just genuinely want snake woman.
