I kinda think this plot seemed clearer in other versions. Or maybe lacking a bit of impact? I'm not sure.
For me it was more the case of this being the third version of the same plot and scenes. This version actually has some details that were omited in the Nekokurage version and the anime, in those the maidservant I believe never got a name. Some of that feeling may come with the expectations that came with the Nekokurage version and the anime's visual presentation, that are actually really good, so when some panels in this version feel a bit too zoomed it or disjointed, it is only by comparison, as it's a good adaptation by itself as well and I think there are no glaring flaws to be pointed out.
This is just my opinion though, and even with all that, for me it was still an enjoyable read.

Huh... I won't put it into spoilers because it's a hunch of mine.
MC said A'duo's profile ressembles someone. I look at the drawing. I guess she's renshi's mother and renshi is the imperial brother or whatever, the empty seat that was shown at the spring garden party.
Meaning she would have an unknown son with the emperor (very unlikely) or that her previous dead son didn't die (unlikely also, since the nurse was sure he died, but more plausible.
So he would cry to see his mother leave him.
