I always enjoy seeing the name differences between the Japanese and Chinese reading (ex. Jinshi and Renshi, Gyokuyo and Yuye). This chapter we've gotten another one, albeit for a minor character: Haoran, whose Japanese reading of his name is Kounen.

hey I am reading the other version which way further ahead of here and due to some anime which fuck up the order of arcs and such things I am swearing off any anime that is based off of a manga I am reading . . .unless its jump because those guys could kill a studio who fucks up a anime adaptation

Anime that mess with the order of arcs are few and far between, you shouldn't keep yourself from enjoying an adaptation of a manga you like just because there's a chance they might mess it up. Also the anime adaptation of this series is following the BG manga exactly with no arc deviation, so that one is "safe" to check out.

She is in the imperial court, hired by Jinshi/Renshi as a maidservant, which is a role that doesn't require passing the exam for.

Right before the confrontation, it was mentioned that the women who pass the exam are deemed the most intelligent and have the highest self esteem, so they don't think that a plain girl like Maomao deserves to work for him.

The calm one basically probably came along for curiosity, she didn't personally care that Maomao got picked to work for Jinshi/Renshi.

I believe Maomao didn't make a face at her, but rather the rest of the group.

it was "I'm a Spider, so what?" if you read the manga then look at the first season of it on Crunchyroll you'll know why I am pissed/soured from anime adaptation having said that there are some that do still seem good but those were shipped off to 1 season hell or otherwise end before the manga adaptation or are just uninteresting having said that "Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita" not getting only one season did make me happy
