But in reality he is the Royal heir who got swapped at birth with the emperor baby brother

We already know from the dowager chapters that Jinshi is an imperial prince. He was born from his mom (who was empress at the time) basically raping her lolicon husband (the former emperor) in a fit of rage. Also, because the current emperor (Jinshi's brother) doesn't have an heir yet and is actually old enough to be his dad, Jinshi is technically the current heir-apparent. He is the secret crown prince. The situation is a bit complicated now with two pregnant consorts, but even if either produced an heir, the child would be a full generation behind the already-adult Jinshi.

Also, from the labyrinth house chapter it is subtly hinted that Jinshi may inherit the imperial maternal line's color-blindness which skipped his imperial brother. It's just that his color-blindness is the purple-blue kind instead of the standard version. This technically makes him more legitimate than his brother.

You have to see it from Mao Mao's perspective. Mao Mao know that Jinshi is a big shot, but she doesnt know his real relation with the emperor. What if Jinshi impregnated one of the emperor's consort? Even the highest official could be executed in that scenario.

I dont know which light novel it is that has that explanation. I know this manga is following the second revised version. she will talk with gaushun eventually, and talk about been interested on child birth. However she mentions that she first needs to cleanse her body from the poison
