Regarding Jinshi's identity, during the first consort's story arc, it was implied that he is actually the Emperor's son by the first consort, that he was switched with the real imperial brother who died during childbirth, and is now hiding even his fake imperial brother identity to serve in the palace...for reasons we're not sure yet.
