So in the end the experience trumps skill. She thought she could pull through it because people tell her shes got talent but because of the fact she never saw any bands live other than the one her dad is in to compare herself she pretty much crashed finding out that what her dad said about people out there being better was true. Its like that saying of a big fish in a small pond.

Hm, I’m not quite empathizing with that last thing she said. I understand the stage fright and lack of confidence, but playing off stage? She’s being a wuss. Whatever, yay for character development potential, ig.

Edit: Imo, this is a wildly different issue from creative blocks. She's just self-sabotaging by saying she can't do it (not true), which is just gonna lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy if she keeps up that attitude. Obviously that's not gonna happen bc char. dev., but still.

@penmore I don't think it's that simple, there were other bands there, you think all of them had better players than her? I doubt it! if people involved in the music world can praise her (even the owner of the place) , then she's very good, but you really need conviction and attitude to be on the stage and really reach the audience, to look fearless can't be summarized with just good or bad. It could be because she doesn't feel like she's part of the band too.

Anyway... What can I say, I'm just glad that Yokiko was there and yeah, there's no way she could face her father right now.

@saenahonce I draw and I get artblocks, when I'm normal I can make wonderful things but when I'm blocked I can't even make the basic stuff without feeling miserably, and then I try again and again and again for a couple of days and nothing. Of course, it doesn't last long but the trigger can be exhaustion, confidence, motivation or something in my mentality... I really know what's like to realize that there's not only someone better than you, THERE'S OVER A MILLION so when you face that truth, your own stuff can even feel generic... In short, it happens, yeah!

Playing music is a creative endeavor and, at it's core, it's about self-fulfillment. It's not like she literally lost the ability to play guitar; it's just that she's currently not in the mindset to play the guitar in a way that would be fulfilling to her.

In the similar way a writer with a writer's block could still force themself to write whatever, you know. They generally would not be able to stand the end result, though.

@lightingcloud

it's still ongoing at this point.
The magazine that the series originally ran in went out of business or something after 21 chapters. Toume Kei was able to continue the serialization with another magazine after that.
Volume 4 goes up to chapter 29, I'm not sure how many there are beyond that, but I imagine volume 5 should be out this year at some point (i hope).

I'm disappointed that the story went here... but it's too be expected with drama. I suppose it's necessary to bring in a new singer (WHO COULD IT BE??).

It's really good at bringing brief interactions to life, also thanks to great translation of course.

This is a brutal, but necessary thing for Mao to go through if she really wants to be a live performer. Great stuff by Kei, as usual in their works things don't go smoothly at all for her characters, which is why I love their stories.

Thanks for the translation.

This is a well done twist for me, they had prepared us for the fact that Mao was the only one worthy in her band to the point of obscuring the other components but we did not consider the importance of the experience on stage.

It's a case of "yuri ruins everything"?

I was expecting Yukiko to join the band as vocal, but now there's this another musician that entered the story. All in one more volume.
