I still prefer shopping irl if I can for certain things. It's so hard to judge whether the picture online is something that you actually want or its actual quality. Small example, my sister bought her plates/bowls online. They look fine, but when you scrape any utensil on the bottom, it makes an awful scratching sound to the point that if I'm using them, I just straight up won't eat the last scraps if it means I have to scrape the bottom. You wouldn't know this just looking at a picture of them

I just disagree, sure (if we're only talking about reading) you can still get the experience of reading the story from the web (a really well designed page for a story, with parallax illustrations and such can really elevate the experience), but there really is something to be said about actually holding and seeing a physical thing, rather than just some light beams blasted into your eyes.
Shopping online is also more... isolated? Like you end up in a bubble of your own tastes. You buy what it is that you wanted, and you don't really see much else, because if you are being recommended other things, there algorithm selected tat that are similar in nature. When's the last time that steam recommended you a game that was really out of left field? Meanwhile if you're in an actual store, you look around (because you went through the effort of being there) and tend to have things catch your eye that you may not have considered.

Not even mentioning how you're supposed to find out about these stores if they're online only. If it's an actual store, you'll walk past and see what it is they sell, but what what of online brands you've never heard of? How do I find them? Especially if they're smaller and niche? Nobody is even going to the second page of google these days, and it's unlikely they'll even be that high in the seo ranking.
Our MC in this story only knew of those 'Swimmer Notebooks' because of childhood experiences, and seemingly because of stores that previously existed.

So I think physical stores and physical store presence is still actually of decent importance to marketing and discoverability of a brand and product, particularly on a grassroots level, as well as many other things such as the vibrancy and image of a town.
I can understand why physical stores are disappearing, but I think they can work hand in hand with their online counterparts better - what if the physical store also acts as a warehouse for for the online products?

Anyway, that's my marketing presentation, hope you guys enjoyed. :dogkek:

Feels funny to read this digitally ain't it?

Unfortunately, my country doesn't produce anything, so everything I can get online is usually much cheaper than getting it at a store..

online might be convenient for some stuff but depending a physical copy would be nice, esp if your wifi dies and such or if you don't have backups downloaded as well

But for stuff like clothes i def would wanna try them on in a store for the fit/feel of the fabric

Although if there's data collected saying one's better idk how much mc could' fight back' for both to be an option if not just finding ways to make physical versions of stuff more appealing

The swimmer stuff i found online looks cute, surprised it's not absorbed by like sanrio (tho i did see some kinda collab thing with them too)

Online is nice but it's not the same..... I miss the feeling and going through the store like having my eye on it.

this. I have autism so I don't like certain fabrics to touch. the same goes for certain items like notebooks. some feel too itchy or unbearable which makes returning a whole drag.....

yeah with fandom stuff and certain stuff, maybe an oversized jacket would be fine but it would suck to buy something that ends up being itchy or too tight (i did buy a frog hoodie i liked that wasn't too bad even tho it's a bit warm to wear it too often but one time i tried buying a dress , b/c of the way the 'straps' were as opposed to it being a full dress it was more like an 'apron' so it would've been a pain to tie it each time i wanted to wear it lol) [i know some ppl can only get certain foreign snacks online and stuff but even with youtuber unboxing vids getting treats from their fans, i'd be hesitant about trying foods like that even if they're not gone stale or so lol]

Plus irl you might find some good deals, and some thrift stores are fine (and depending on the person some times you might get a discount too lol tho i'm not rly the type to try to haggle or so , even tho sometimes ppl are nice enough to be like "don't worry about the tax' with the calculations). Although for a notebook, unless it's something super custom i would hope you could just get that at a normal store unless you live far enough away in the 'middle of nowhere' to where you'd have to order supplies online lol

i like the retro-cutesy look that the SWIMMER brand has.
judging from the kanji, wolfy guy's name is shou.
i kinda relate to hikaru forgetting a kanji that he remembered learning once. like i remember that it has this radical and that radical, but i don't remember the third radical, and i have no clue how all three were placed together.
