That's why I'm so attached to this series, it even has the part about the girls forgetting him after he completely romances them(I wonder if after he romances a few of them this will end up like season 3 of the World god only knows)

He was actually not bad, he did ensure her safety until their usual bed time and was wary around the obvious culprit. It's going to be more unfamiliarity with the power systems of this world and the sheer scale of what's possible.

He was likely covering for people breaking in or attacking in person, race specific hypnosis is feasible but it's completely reasonable for him not to know or even notice the spell tag thing. He did notice foul play with her shoes being there and take the best immediate course of action.
