This author follows the common trope where they have this personal interest (gardening and cooking with homegrown veggies in this case) which they add a lot of exposition about in their manga, maybe in the hopes of getting other people interested in it as well. And I almost always don't care at all and just skip over all of those text boxes that don't have to do with the romance. I think the only instance of this where I actually pay attention is Danberu Nan-Kiro Moteru?, but for one thing, I already had an interest in the subject matter, and on the other, the subject matter is the main concept of the manga, instead of being an afterthought to the romcom as in this case.
