you ever just pop over to your co-worker's house to brood on their veranda?
It looks like her manager is having thoughts of going against what she told the FMC, otherwise what’s she pondering on the veranda with that dark expression? She better play this right… Going along with the rumours would be a big betrayal now that the FMC was told they’d be shut down. The manager is the FMC's agent so that means she is empowered to act (make decisions) for her. Its never made clear what the FMC business relationship is with the talent agency but its probably some sort of contract and that obligates her to follow their direction to some degree. Its not like not the manager is not going to consult with the FMC, as we saw later, before committing anything. But the manager is also working for the agency who has their own interests in getting a return on their own investment. There is going to be a dynamic going on where the actress may need to listen to the manager as a representative of that agency.
What this episode shows us is that the manager sees the actress as more than an assignment or product of the talent agency but as a friend when she did not immediately accept the suggestion made that they go along with the gossip paper's story.
FMC is not holding a lot of influence right now. That's why the guy talked about "firmly establishing her fame" - she's currently still vulnerable to being a flash-in-the-pan celebrity.FMC is very successful right now and is holding a lot of influence. It wouldn’t be strange for her to just leave and go to another agency if she felt like they weren’t respecting her wishes. I’m sure there’s a lot of options when you’re at her stage of career.
That was classic negging. If she fell for that she deserves to lose her client. It’s clearly a setup to benefit the male actor who’s probably doing it as a cover for his sus behaviour. Slimeball agent for slimeball actor. The whole story was probably a setup they staged in the first place because he didn’t like being rejected.FMC is not holding a lot of influence right now. The manager isn't a random damsel who doesn't know what she's doing. She knows what the entertainment industry is like and she recognizes that what she was being told was correct. Narumi is a rising star, not an established one. That was classic negging. If she fell for that she deserves to lose her client.
