@jonsmth I'd consider my point to be doubly important if this is meant to be targeted at younger audiences. Too many people these days take debates of good and evil at face value without even considering any depth of character. This is proven if you bring up the railroad moral dilemma on reddit and watch the psychopaths call anybody who would pull the lever a murderer.

Tell me, should we really be teaching children that protagonists like Kenja no Mago's and Death March's are heroes to aspire towards just because the story centers around them? I personally consider half of all isekai protagonists evil because they all run on the deadly sins of sloth, greed, pride and lust. Sometimes wrath as well. But because we see the story from their perspective, we have to root for them. I'd rather teach children from a young age about nuances and motivations and dreams early on.

Teaching kids to read fictional character's expressions, and nuances and motivations and dreams, is secondary to delivering the story in an accessible way or expressing the writer's vision if those weren't already the intention. Those other things can still be done in different ways, or in a different part of the story, or even in a different book.

@jangankangkung In a sense, he is Theodore with memories of his past life, rather than simply a person inserted inside the body of Theodore. Therefore, all his experiences and emotions as Theodore who loves his mother is very much real. This is another reason why he was so angry in the first chapter. As all the memories of being bullied was very much real to him. He wasn't angry as an outsider put into Theo's shoes but rather angry because he IS Theo, with past memories.

Has the pacing gotten better at this point? Or does it still seem rushed?

Ionno man seeing some of the comments on various manga, some people have the reading comprehension of a rock.

I got into an... extended debate where one guy was thoroughly convinced the MC was evil for firing a bully's dad.

The Nobel's intentions for coming by was to spark a reaction. Either he gets the joy of belittling/slandering the MC to say " you may have won but your still trash". Or he incites the MC into striking a noble and use that for leverage of revenge.

For those of you disappointed that he didn't just "kill him" would have fallen right into his obvious trap.

The MC has the right to be angry and he can always take revenge later from behind the scenes but the correct action should have been: 1) to keep cool, 2) don't show that his words have any effect, 3) change subject to your favor/ use his tactics against him ect.

@Trov Sounds like the author was lazy and didn't want to address the personality of someone who's had multiple lives.

He might be a duke, a King, or whatever, but berate my mother, and he's gonna die slowly but surely in the greatest of great pajn, the deepest of deep sorrow, and the darkest of dark despair.

The MC sure is patient as hell. If the son of a whore talks about my mother that way... Nah, if he does so much as uttered my mother's name with that mouth, his head would be spinning on the floor already.

aaaand you'd potentially become an enemy of the royal family for punishing one of their direct subordinates of a very high rank without so much as consulting them. Who knows, maybe they hate the guy too but he's still around as a duke because he's of use in some way or he has a lot of backing and connections even aside from the royal family itself. Either way, I'm sure they don't like people going over their heads on stuff like this. It could change the entire political landscape of their kingdom in an instant, perhaps destabilize the country.

@AFresherPerspective So, how many people have you killed thus far? Gotta be a pretty high number if you kill people just for pissing you off. Probably even killed people you actually care about too, since that doesn't really prevent them from pissing you off here or there. Hell, they're probably the most likely to piss you off due to the amount of time spent around them compared to other people.

@Glomoro I’m called the Grim Reaper for a reason

Joking aside, alright you got me, I should have worded that better. What I should have said, is that I’ll slaughter everyone who comes after me and my own, probably won’t make any difference but still.
