Man this is soo rushed. The entire first volume of the novel is adapted in only 5 chapter of manga. It's a very decent novel too with good writing a lot of world building and character development and interaction but it seems like the manga wanted to focus on MC martial arts and fights which is not the point of the novel at all...

I skimmed the entirety of the web novel out of curiosity, and I think it's better actually to not follow the source material too closely - it kinda goes off in an unsatisfying direction IMO after the next story arc. (For those still reading the licensed version we're currently around ch 35 or so)
