Either every new enemy is just a candidate for the new demon king or MC got nerfed to the point of infancy in order to make things look dangerous. Him being an old hero has little to no relevance to the plot at this point. Plot just happens around him since the demon face off 50 chapters ago

he has been nerfed from the start, he can't go fully out because it's not his body, also he was kinda having it easy while fighting like before that final flash, he looked like he could still beat the 3 of them.
