What if? "Kusanagi Takeru" was his old body but he misunderstood it as someone else?

The time gap between when MC was isekai'ed and when he came back is too long (and MC Kusanagi Takeru even gets to keep the same classmates). And MC immediately knows something is wrong when he sees his new face in the mirror - it's a face of a completely different person.
The theory that Kusanagi Takeru is Yamato Takeru's next reincarnation, and he just awoke to the memories of his previous life is more realistic.

I'd like to point out that Yamato Takeru is from 2000 while Kusanagi Takeru is from 2040.

Takeru from 2000 never died. He got "summoned" as a summoned Hero. Ten years after his summoning, which is in 2010s, dimensional cracks appeared and that's when Japan started to become a magic centric society with gates and the like.

Yamato Takeru "died" to beheading execution while Kusanagi Takeru is on death's door after committing jump-to-unalive.

The real key here is during the suicide attempt. That was never revealed on how everything unfolded and might have magic shenanigans while he was falling.

I remember one where the MC shares his body with two previous selves. Despite their different personalities it’s very nice that they can be supportive of each other

At least nobody stole the dude's shopping bags while he was stopping monsters and saving lives. It would have been pretty funny, in an extremely sad way. But it certainly could happen. Ambulances and such are occasionally stolen by drug addicts and other lunatics in RL. It's the kind of thing that could heavily disillusion a hero.
