Takeru saying he’ll return to his parents no matter what is a flag if ever I saw one. Also, i really enjoy this series, but it’s feeling a little like the author isnt sure what to do anymore
I don’t feel that at all. At worst, the author is padding out for content, but I get the impression they have an ending in mind with all the bread crumbs left so far.

Fillers like these reify themes of friendship, camaraderie, and humanity and often preface a new arc or conflict to challenge them, so if this author has chops, things should ramp up again from here.

I can't remember if I've seen a chapter like this before. A date with the parents and others interrupting in ways that emphasize and explain their relation. Seen it for love interests pretty rarely, usually as a way to interfere though.

Props to the author for doing something rare and interesting. I think the most parallel would be a "fade to black to explain" situation, which I hate as lazy storytelling.

Wonderful chapter, wonderful parents.

But the fact that actual Takeru should be capable of becoming a hunter himself. Yet he ended up as an undead puppet is just too sad.

Thank you for your work!

More like his surrounding are full of caring people because he's so helluva strong nobody can ignore him and would rather have him on their own side, as an ally.

I don't know which is sadder: the parents thinking their son is doing great and getting forward in life, when the son is actually dead, more or less. Or that Takeru needs to keep pretending to be the (dead) son, despite his own extremely heavy, soul-crushing burdens.
