If Beardo is the son of a count, however low his birth-order, doesn't that imply that he's still higher up in social standing than a knight, even the captain of the knights? Him being noble-born also explains how he's so clueless about other places to work as a blacksmith. We know that he is aware that they exist, or tearing up the MC's license wouldn't mean much. It's more like other forges beyond the crown's or some knight or noble's are just beneath his notice.
if the work is too low or too high level it feels dizzy to look at
While I want to say that this makes sense if you think about very low level enchantment as being done with handwriting so bad you can't read it, and very high level as being akin to uncommented code written by a talented programmer that's completely beyond your understanding, but I think that might be giving the author too much credit.
