hits very hard, considering. laika is so easy to sympathize with that the comedy spot of the meteor shower feels frustrating. awesome first chapter

"5000 light years away"
First getting that far would take at least 5000 years so earth would a very different place maybe even devoid of humans.

"will reach in a week"
No. It should take at least 5000 years and you'll all die way before that.

I call bullshit!

The author could've just said they're doing it from the backside of the moon and it would have been so much more grounded in reality.

But I kinda like the idea.

Dude, are you seriously expecting scientific consistency in a manga about talking intelligent dogs with their own planet and civilization?

The premise was bizarre enough to at least let me try a chapter before regretting the decision and quickly forgetting about it.

But holy shit did the chapter deliver. Might be better suited as a one shot, but I am all in now.

@Sonaldo

My principal is to allow for deviations from reality if it promotes world building or story.

In this case it's neither, the author was just being lazy, they wanted some numbers and did some bs. It's super easy to get this right but they didn't.

Considering they also have an absurd amount of meteors on their planet I'd wager this story's way of world-building the universe is going in a "The Little Prince" path of childish interpretation. Which I am all for. At the very least it's evident to me that it's not lazy, or poorly made, but deliberate in it.

I think it's just funny how obvious it is if you think about it, since the time it takes to travel a light year is right there in the name. If they had made up a distance using any other unit (kilometers, AUs) it would've been much less obvious.
