Would you be open to the person who mangled your brother's hand and who was suspiciously in the area where you father disappeared? Would you be open to him when he admitted to being a part of his disappearance?

It's frustrating because she's denying Aquila, and we want to see Aquila happy, but Lamia is perfectly within reason.

A person without memories is a brand new person. Lamia is completely in the right. She has all the reasons to be suspicious. if she wasn't being super careful around him. It would not match her character

I think we still know too little to judge these characters.
Lamia seems to be the most understandable in her reactions even if she seems to be stubborn from our point of view I find that she has enough reason to be (even if we don't know them all yet) and that she does her best to protect her brother with that (unfortunately this one does not seem to tell her everything and he seems really little invested in saving his skin or his future), in addition she has not only "prejudices" since she has already met him on several occasions (logical for the daughter of a duke and a prince) and even I did not find him very appreciable (at the cemetery) and there is have other meetings that we haven't seen yet and what his brother told her about him didn't help. So for the moment Lamia is not annoying for me, and we know too little about the prince and the story behind to really have an opinion. The story must be even more enjoyable to read in one go

Thanks so much for the chapters!

I am speculating that someone possibly the 1st prince want to be rid of Lamia's family, since he seemed terrible hostile to the idea of her asking the 1st prince. Maybe the 1st prince tasked him with aiding said murders but where in the 1st timeline, he fell for Lamia? He then turned back time to the point before their dad died but after he had mangled her brother's hand. This is all just a guess though.

This is like giving me the Witch's Heart vibes. Only without the demons. And Theo kinda reminds me of Noel, but Lamia is nothing like Claire.

So far:

Aquila is basically the (sadly too common) person who sucks at choosing his word properly and lead to getting misunderstood a LOT.
Like when he said about him being related to creation of the crystals, it might be that he invented/crafted it, but left it with some others so he's really not the one who used it (basically Einstein and nuclear bomb moment)
Same with him being involved in her dad's accident, maybe the dad is only targeted to use his death to make people doubt Aquila given his current reputation and that he was just on the way there.

Him calling Lamia Duchess would mean , assuming Lamia also planned to leave Uri in charge before, that Uri DIED in the previous timeline and Lamia was the only person left to become the Duchess.
So maybe he intentionally crippled Uri to make sure whoever was planning to kill him would think that 'surely he's a cripple, he won't become the next Duke' and thus leave him alive.
(at least given Lamia's personality, after that painful handshake in the flashback she definitely would tell him about his absurd strength once they became closer)

I love him, he's cool but also a bit of a gentle airhead. He doesn't know how to word his responses or clarify the meanings but you can see the love in his eyes.

@WhimsiCat I believe that up until he had his personality shift, going from the non-human psycho to this... hurt puppy is what we have been told and everyone, seeing as now he is even friendly to her brother, where as at the third princes funeral, he wasn't even friendly to Lamia.

The comment below yours is a decent theory which would explain the massive personality shift, but Aquila needs to realize the differences sooner rather then later.

@Chet31: That's the misunderstanding goggle at work.

In term of actions, he shook her hand and 'smiled' while saying she looks like her brother.
But that flashback is likely the 'current' timeline, since given how Lamia's reactions has been I highly doubt she would've smiled at him if he also mangled Uri's hand in the past loop.

So he probably just suck at controlling his strength (or get too emotional at meeting her again and lost control a bit), and not that he intended to hurt her with that grip.

Considering that this story has 'timeloop' fuckery, he probably crippled Uri to prevent him from becoming a knight and dying early, and that in the previous timeline she was the Duchess, And originally he created those beads and was part of the plot against her family (before he was interested in her)

I bet the current Aquila was different to the Aquila who injured Uri, the one who met Lamia during funeral and planned to kill Orphe Family... I think the current Aquila is the one who travelled through time to saved Lamia.

huh so maybe this is related to the king regent? who might have some plan against Orphe fam because Orphe supports Ethan? also Aquila was super touchy when Lamia mentioned Ethan and I wonder if that’s because of jealousy or because he knows Ethan is a danger to Lamia.

somehow I don’t think that the Aquila in the funeral is a different version because that happened after Aquila broke Lamia’s brother’s hand. which I believe is something Aquila did to protect Lamia and her brother.

im fairly certain in the original timeline, lamia actually became a knight instead of her brother, unless that was a jump forward in this timeline, which would give reason for the 2 of them to interact more.

also i dont think its ethan, at the very least, until he gets the throne, theres no reason for him to get rid of the orphes, theyre on his side due to the issue with aquila, and their support is invaluable. if it was going to happen, it would be after succeeding the crown although that would cut at a huge portion of his supporters and risk severe backlash, possibly with the orphe territory completely cutting itself off

my bet is that its the prince regents plan to get aquila on the throne and thus continue to maintain control of it, by getting rid of the main problem, but then it doesnt make sense for him to kill lamia once their engaged since the power would have shifted
