Would that be the best way?
Torrents are not safe nor easy, but they make the most sense when downloading entire series.
Downloading a chapter is better and faster than downloading each single page one by one.
Downloading the entire serie is faster than downloading the single chapters.
And when downloading more than one serie, doing it page by page would be pure madness, and an huge waste of time.
Torrents are unsafe, because while using them your internet address (IP) is public, you can see the addresses of the other people using the same torrent but they can also see you back. Some of those "people watching back", could be anti-piracy agents. Which is why it is very often advised to use VPN or other ways to hide your real address behind a fake address.
And then torrents aren't easy, because you still have to find reliable places where to start from, and also hope the torrents with the series you want are alive and not abandoned. The most popular series seems to be updated often, but the less popular series are sometimes not available or not up to date.
There are supposedly private torrent sites which have more coverage, but I've never tried those so I can't confirm if they are really better.
There are then other ways to get the chapters/series than using torrents, but those are either unreliable or they have a different set of problems to deal with.
- Sometimes there are some sites which have the direct downloads to the entire series, or by volumes, but those download links usually are removed very fast.
- There are some sites which are specialized in scraping images from any give link, that is, you give it a link, and the site gives you back all the images contained in that link, if you give it a chapter link, you get all the chapter pages. Those web scrapers work with other manga sites, but they often don't work with mangadex (something about the format of the images in the chapters, or the dex api purposely blocking the pages when requested by other sites)
- And then there were some browser extensions which did download all the images in the current tab/page. Afterall, if you can see a chapter, on any site, then your device has already obtained all the images, it's only a matter of gathering them in an orderly manner. (some browser cache viewers worked surprisingly well in getting all the viewed pages, the only issue was the order of those pages)
There were two sites/apps which reused chapters from various other sites, cubari and tachiyomi, and both should have a download button to take the chapters.
But
tachiyomi got
hit by the korean anti-piracy firm Kakao too.
No idea how cubari is doing, but the site seems alive. So if you can find the serie you want over those (use a search engine: serie name + cubari, and see if you're lucky) you should be fine with downloading the chapters.
Though I think both tachiyomi and cubari, tachiyomi more than the other, may have contributed the most in making anti-priracy more aggressive in the last years, since those services just create an easy list of manga sites that the anti-piracy agencies can use as targets. Too much ease of access is not a good thing for piracy or piracy related sites, it just draws a bigger target.
