Gladius is kinda badass, even though he practically a monster, he still had sense of respect towards strong opponents, especially Hanbin.

He even accept defeat and respect Hanbin for being able to beat him, at that time was one of the best combatants angel Ormphlaus possessed.

In this, I think the best choice would be to massively change the flow of the early episodes. Don't spend an episode in the rock mountain, sprinkle in flashbacks across the first few episodes to keep some intensity during the dull parts, and cut back on a lot of the early stuff. Less time as a carrier, less time in construction, more good shit
