That riddle is easy. lol but I guess there are suckers everywhere. I would like to see them finally get past the door only for 80k of dp in elite monsters to be waiting as the other side expended all their dp on traps trying to kill mice and to just counter zerg the opposing side.

@mommunism The Sphinx obstacle is defined by a very simple rule set.

A riddle always has 1 correct answer. There may be more than 1 technically correct answer, in which case the correct answer is the one that is the most "correct". Usually it's also the simplest, but not necessarily.

Now you can say even that's subjective, but a good riddle is one that passes the smell test easily. It may be subjective, but nobody will really argue that the "correct" answer is not the most correct.

In fact if there are many, many technically possible answers, it should be a clue that the correct answer is a simple one that is the most different from the rest and therefore would appear to be the most "correct".

So, are u saying that you disagree that it's the most clear, correct and relevant answer in this case? You're not only overthinking the answers possible to this riddle, you're also overthinking even the logic behind the riddle. You're exactly the kind of person this riddle is mocking.

@DLRevan You clearly didn't read much of this thread, because I've addressed your main point multiple times. Stop rambling about majority opinion speculation and instead tell me exactly what criteria makes the "true" answer here better (nobody else in this thread could). I already went over how it's clearly worse, so you can read the rest of my comments and respond to that too if you'd like, but I'm not going to spend time repeating myself. Furthermore, I've never once in my life heard someone respond to a riddle with a technically correct answer and get told it's wrong. Good riddles should only have one technically correct answer, so one where many answers are correct is generally reconsidered to be a bad riddle as soon as a "false" answer that's correct is given, and I've seen this happen multiple times on comedy shows, twitch streams, etc.

Lastly, this riddle is not "mocking" anybody. It's targeting people like me, but that's fucking obvious. If you think that counts against me at all, you're a moron. It's like a religious person saying anyone who disagrees with their religion is bad. It's not in your favor to say "you can't critique their religion since you're the one it's saying is bad." The religion can obviously still be retarded.

@mommunism Think hard enough and there's really multiple answers to almost any riddle. It's only your subjective view to decide if a riddle is good or not based on how good the true answer is, but there really tends to be a right answer that makes the most sense once revealed.

The bloody Riddle of the Sphinx, one of the most famous riddles in history, can have multiple answers if you dig deep enough. 4 legs in the morning, 2 in the day, 3 in the evening? The answer is a "person". Yet it can be any number of bipedal animals who rely on tail or additional arm support in old age. Or an animal that has evolved from 4 legs, to be nominally bipedal, to having a single useful pair of limbs plus a tail (such as an aquatic animal). Or it can be more allegorical, referring to the evolution of governance. Or it can refer to action, like a man who swims in freestyle/breaststroke/butterfly in turn. Or it can be really literal, a dog or cat gets into an accident, has it's hind legs cut off, and replaced by a roller prosthetic. Can even happen on the same day, making the morning, day and evening completely literal.

All of it is much more far-fetched that the more straightforward and profound answer of "person". Even if you place restrictions, you can never truly eliminate all over possible answers. Funny, Haku and Co. started coming up with similarly far-fetched and convoluted answers.

Anyway, somehow I think you're the one who didn't read the whole thread. So many people have told you so many points of view to address this. Yet you can only accept one perspective. A riddle must only have one possible answer, or one plausible answer. The irony of your statement is that you're actually the one who can't take anyone disagreeing with you. May I add, that also applies to your idea that some riddles have a proper correct answer....because you have determined yourself there is no other possible answer. You are the ultimate barometer. Really?

That stick up your ass has gone so far, you can't even accept that a joke in the manga mocks people like you. Going as far as to say it doesn't count against you. When it's been placed there to mock Haku. That much is obvious, but if you're not convinced, you can wait on the next chapter. Have you never been mocked before? You're that perfect huh.

@DLRevan Famous != good. The sphinx riddle is awful. Almost nobody uses canes, for one. The greek mythos is a far cry from the gold standard of sensible writing, and most people know this. The answer of "a person" is not any more profound than the other answers either, unless you're using like a third grader's idea of profundity. A plumber will obviously like the answer "plumber" more than any other profession for a riddle that applies to multiple. It's incredibly basic shit. Just plain narcissism.

The joke in the manga is not the riddle. It's the fact that people the riddle is targeting cannot think of the "true" answer. I could see that it was possible from the beginning. I heard the "spell 'it'" joke a million times in elementary school. Believe me, this type of "wordplay" is not new to me, or anybody else. But again, you're a fucking imbecile if you think that this point matters at all, even if you were right. Address the religion analogy that demonstrates your circular logic instead of just high horsing. The number one thing you can do to make it incredibly obvious you've lost an argument is constantly arguing in the meta about the other person without providing a shred of evidence for your own argument.

And this seems to be the trend for you. Give conclusions, not arguments. Do you know how ironic it is for you to call me dogmatic when you do this? You have yet again dodged the request for criteria by which the riddle is better, and instead argued "you won't consider other perspectives" in response to me literally just asking for one. Give one or fuck off. Pick your favorite if you think there actually are any in the thread. I don't care. Just fucking say one thing of value that pertains to the main topic. I will not waste more of my time replying to more unsubstantiated drivel.

@Amplify Wow, super clever comment!! Good job! I can tell you're experienced with grown up humor by the way you used "tree" to mean "even more than stick." Keep trying!!

@Amplify Seriously, though, please stop with popular middle school quotes. It's embarrassing to read. You're not making yourself look good, trust me.

The irony of that coming from a guy who couldn't understand that the riddle literally just says "The answer is X" with everything else written below it being about as related and relevant to the riddle as some graffiti in a nearby public bathroom, who then goes on a 3 month long spree of desperate blustering and backpedaling out of embarrassment to try and justify his stupidity. It's delicious.

@Amplify You're just yet another moron coming to the table with absolutely nothing but cringe quotes and the classic "you think it's wrong = you don't understand it" defense of a lazy artist. Also, I talked about this for like one day on the release date, and then one more day a couple months later. Calling that a "3 month long spree" just further helps to demonstrate how utterly fucking stupid you would have to be to think this is a decent riddle. Literally nothing I've said can be construed as backpedaling, unlike every single person I've talked to, all of which have 100% dodged when asked to provide criteria that makes your favorite answer better.

Thanks for proving my point. If you weren't desperately trying to dig yourself out of this hole at all costs, you'd have said your piece originally once, maybe even a reply, but you certainly wouldn't have been doing all of this empty blustering this many replies later and wouldn't keep responding.

You act like only you are right in all of heaven and earth, it's hilarious and sad.

@Amplify Right of course. If there's any definitive proof for being incorrect, it's writing more than one or two comments. Good think you have yet to pass that threshold. Quick, go use your clearly superior intellectual vigor to cure aids or something. You wouldn't want to leave one too many comments here and nullify all of your arguments.

If you thought yourself right, you would have left three months ago secure in the knowledge that you're right. That you're still desperately trying to defend yourself even now, speaks all it needs to.

But seriously, I am done humoring you. You've proven yourself stupid more than enough times now. Here's to the next contestant having actual arguments, instead of introducing themselves like a middle school class clown and ironically backpedaling from one conjecture ("disagree = misunderstand") to the next ("more comment = more wrong") without even trying to evidence either.
