Dude's just making up a whole nother story, there was no implication of two timing (this is literally a poly anthology, not a cheating anthology, poly implies they talked it out and decided on this relationship together), and there isn't much in the way of chemistry in general its 10 pages focused on this one interaction between two of them obviously its not gonna get super into the chemistry with the third.
