Look at it this way: he keeps needling himself to become even stronger all the time.

Which is good, really. It's always when the MC gets complacent is when the shit hits the fan in a very bad way.

At the very least it's not some monomaniacal complex like Vegeta had when chasing Goku.

I had to go all the way back to Chapter 1 to see the sister. We get dumped into the plot so quickly... which is nice, in a ways, but a little more exposition would have been nice.

That said, even with as little as we see of his sister... Hooooooo boy. She's gonna be trouble, isn't she?
