actually, its quite normal after lucy background is discovered
lucy actually a princess of a kingdom that got destroyed, i think its from the same country that responsible for destroying nina's kingdom too (imma call it evil kingdom since i forgot the name)
in her childhood, mc is one of her closest friend and mc has been appointed as her attendant or something, i kinda forgot tbh, after some shenanigan where lucy almost got killed by her evil sister and mc saved her, lucy vow to become stronger and practiced her spirit magic but before she completely finishes her training, mc already gone to the country where he treated like dirt due to his skill (the felicia one)
later lucy kingdom got attacked and in desperate attempt to escape, she meet the 400 year loli vampire (the one mc about to meet in chapter 5 as of now), the vampire told her some prophecy, if she want to escape, she need to be cursed into horse and soon the mc will find a way to cure her, then after becoming horse she got taken off by one the noble in the felicia's country and there she finally found her way to the mc side
later in the story, even tough mc has left lucy in the kingdom that treated him like a dirt, one way or another lucy able to meet with the mc again (i guess she got helped by the prophecy) by helping some good noble from the evil kingdom and from there lucy always accompany mc until the latest chapter in the WN
conveniently the loli vampire told nina to not join the mc and lucy trips to undo the curse
mc and lucy finally able to undo the curse and later unlock her OP spirit that conveniently suited with the mc skill, from here i can see that lucy is in the highest position as the main heroine for the mc

due to nina need to journey to other place later to solve the mystery of nina's power - this part is related to why nina cant trust anyone since she also got betrayed by her closest attendant who actually a spy from the evil kingdom and in anger she kill everyone in the kingdom using her cursed power (including the spy and army of the evil kingdom), it kinda satisfying tbh
