You might think that would be a good idea, but the problem is if what if you run into a deadzone? or your walkie talkie dies?

This is why it's generally not a good idea to do that, a better idea is to if there is no report in x amount of time until you hear from me be prepared to kill the hostages at the first sign of abnormalities.
