The immortal suns translation is one of the worst I've ever seen, its doesn't even make sense - plus did they seriously watermark ads in there? Good god get this garbage outta here, stop ruining a good series.

So all this hullabaloo surround Immortal Sun releases got me curious to just peek at the latest chapter (17 at the time of writing).
Bear in mind I only commented here because this discussion was on the front page feed, so I have no attachment to any of the characters or the plot progression.

I cannot speak to the translation quality, because I was way more distracted by the constant giant colored watermarks plastered everywhere.
I get it; some groups really don't like aggregator sites leeching off of their efforts, and choose to watermark the pages (like in some Shoujo series on this site).
But those are usually either monochrome or hidden in a corner to avoid covering up important artwork and/or dialogue.

Man, does it break the reading flow and immersion something fierce.

I see that the "Immortal Sun Scans" or whatever they were called are still uploading new chapters even when their translations are incredibly bad.
After reading the first few chapters from "Secret Scans" I quite enjoyed the series, translations were pretty darn good. Then I saw a couple more chapters from this other group and thought "it's another group, but it might be fine." Spoiler: It was not. The things the characters are doing and saying make almost no sense whatsoever with their translations.
So I did what any reasonable person would do: I blocked "Immortal Sun Scans". Sure they still appear on the front page of MangaDex when they upload a new chapter, however, they do not appear in the chapter list on the actual series so at least I won't get those terrible translations when I'm reading the series.

Thank you MangaDex for the wonderful block button, it saved my sanity.

@justforthelulz the watermarks arent added by the group its added from the sites they get raws off, they made an announcement about this in around chapter 8 or so

I see, but if that's the case, are there really no better (free) raw sources that don't have gigantic eyesores?
Unless the group is really passionate about this series and has scoured the web to no avail, but the MTL comparisons in these comments don't back up that theory.

@justforthelulz nope there are, take Secret Scans' tl they used free raws without watermarks i suggest you read into the drama with the last pages on the chapters of the first few secret scans releases (i think chapter 2 has the first) which talk about the drama surrounding Yukki, hes basically just rushing the series to get it out for like no obvious reason...
