I feel so baited by the romance tag 😭 cute story but damn, Matoi could have at least found someone to reciprocate her feelings in six years... Truly nothing wrong with aroace Rep but the narrative direction really made it seem like we'd get a romantic ending for someone other than little miss reverse cradle robber

This had a lot of soul searching that led to nowhere, i guess this is the kind where journey mattered more than the destination, on a serious i liked matoi and the tokyo friend together more than the usual couple

I like the idea of aroace rep but I'd at least like Matoi to get with Rio if Yuriko can't return her feelings.

Also the middle schooler being allowed to sleep around with adults and it getting treated so casually was really messed up. It felt like the author was trying to parallel those kinds if relationships with asexuality. Like they should BOTH be acceptable. Just no

The story wasn't bad, but it wasn't very interesting either. The build-up didn't go anywhere, and the ending was disappointing. However, as I can read the author wanted to write about asexuality, so in that sense, she achieved her goal.

Yeahhh I mean this was a cute story but I feel like having a romance story where one of the protagonists is aromantic is a bit... disappointing. It feels like having a battle manga where the protagonist is a pacifist. (I guess. I don't read that kind of manga but it's the best analogy I could come up with.)

Also for all the people saying this isn't yuri, I hate to be that person that gets caught up in semantics but yuri does not always mean romance. There are lots of yuri stories that are just slice of life, comedy, action, etc, but do not have romantic development or do not entirely focus on romantic development but they are still yuri. They are just not yuri romance stories.

Along the same line, I don't think this manga is mis-tagged. I think there are plenty of manga on this site that are tagged Romance but are not romance stories, but this is not one of them. In my opinion, it has the usual flow of a romance story, just not the outcome we are used to seeing. Which I don't have a problem with really. It's nice to see representation and unique stories even if it doesn't exactly fit my own personal taste. I'm sure there are folks out there who do or would feel very seen by this manga, and that's a wonderful thing.

Thanks for the translation!

I'm jealous of these two... It's literally my ideal form of relationship. More than just a friend but stay platonic and supporting each other without labels and expectations.

oh fuck off, if it’s not romance it is NOT FUCKING ROMANCE take the god damn tag away for fucks sakes!

also stfu about the whole Yuri tag abd such! were in the froze hell are you when FRIENDSHIP exist in Shoujo but there is no Yuri tag? if it’s just friendship then way ARE NOT THE MAJORITY of manga with female characters having friends called Yuri? also Yaoi exist! so men can get their true 100% gay manga while women have to content with garbage friendship mean lesbians for fucks sakes

weirdest thing about the ending is that they dont live together, like at the very least it'd save on rent

I was misled by all the comments whining about how this wasn't romance. I disagree. There's plenty of love in an unusual form. And I would say their relationship growth was plenty romantic, in a platonic love kind of way. It struck me as a platonic life partners kind of conclusion. Yuriko seems to love Matoi. She doesn't want commitments or monopolization or romance. Just companionship and understanding.

She wants to live their lives together side by side, and that's literally what they do, with side by side apartments like that. They also discuss moving back to the countryside together. Even if they don't live together, they still stay together, and even stay near one another.

Yuriko does not even want to be touched in a romantic way. She did find comfort in leaning on Matoi when she was unwell, but normally she seems to really dislike physical touch. And Matoi is fine with that. Either she doesn't feel a need to touch, or she is fine not touching when unnecessary. In the end, they're both left feeling safe and happy in each other's presence.
