Honestly, I don’t really care if the quote-in-quote real princess ascends the throne since our FL doesn’t plan on inheriting the throne and as a reader, I should stan our FL’s decisions.
But if the empire collapses bc of Eclette’s mistakes-

I guess her being the child of the brother of the previous emperor and not the child of the previous saintess doesn't make her royal bloodline enough.

I don’t even think it’s about that. Shaylia is from the royal bloodline since their father IS related to Eclette’s father AND assumed the throne.
I’m just assuming that the ‘saintess’ is doesn’t tolerate Shaylia as the heir to the throne because Shaylia is not close with the church.
I bet there is some deeper scheme the ‘saintess’ is plotting and since Eclette is probably not that fit to rule the throne, the ‘saintess’ might manipulate her into ruling the empire her way.
I dunno, just a theory...
