To be fair to the ML it looked like at the time he was having some bad recollections that took him out of focus. Bit irritating that nobody will talk about their feelings to anyone else.

Especially feel for the little brother given his fear has always been she would just disappear. Frankly she's been cold and trying to ditch him ever shot she could. That's something a child can pickup on.

It's genuinely pretty sad since it seems like her thought that it's a book/story divorced her emotionally from it all.

Everything is pretty heartbreaking, i can understand Ares not being able to respond right away, i can also feel why the little brother was so scared and paranoid of losing his sister (especially when said sister just keeps trying to separate from him ever since the beginning), doesnt make what he did okay, but yea. I can feel for him. She also has a pretty sad background. Aaaaagh miscommunicationnnnn. (Side note: i loved how the bby bro was willing to apologize to his sister, but I HATED that Ares convinced him not to. What the heck. I know you’re jealous and all but don’t get in the way of the kids moral compass. Ugh.)
