Loading time is really lengthy

Maybe it's just my devices (though I doubt it) but the time is takes to load a chapter takes so long. It's so much hassle to reload the "frame" or the chapter. I like the functions of the website which is why I didn't ditch it but the loading time is such a HUGE turn off. I can wait a good 3 min for the panel to load and at the end I would just get an error message telling me to reload it. At the end I usually just go read the manga on another random website but use mangadex to track my progress. It's a really serious issue on my part.

Our cache servers are at their limit. We're looking to upgrade them, but it takes time.

The update recently was related to upgraded databases, which is a separate issue that has now been resolved.

Yeah, the site in general is really slow for me let alone loading chapters. Sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes to load a single page. It's not my internet as it's the best it's ever been at the moment.

@holo Oh! Changing vpn to europe or usa makes it work. Could a mail be sent to scanlations staff for uploading new chapters by that method while we wait for the problem to be solved?

@Holo, this seems like a dumb question but would the backend guys have any idea which is more efficient on the servers? Long strip vs single page. I’d assume single page as it’s a single image request but more separate page requests over time, but for long strip it’s a single quick batch of requests together with no page loads aside from the initial batch which might also be better?

@Lexical It looks like it doesn't make a difference what you pick. from what I can see both long strip and single page will both load up to 11 images at a time (though possibly more, the one I tested had 27 pages total) Both will also load one more image as you scroll or go to the next page.

I imagine as restrictions and stuff start to ease, the loading time will start to speed up.

@darkmoo I seem to recall similar results, hence my curiosity. If the client side is going to request and cache the images on all three browsing options, one of the systems might be slightly more efficient on how it demands server resources

Wanted to ask but is anyone else also running into issues with images/pages failing to even upload after the long loading times? Sometimes I hit the reload button and it works and sometimes it doesn't. Wanted to get some input if that related problem is just me or if it's affecting others as well then I'd like to know before I try other things like emptying my caches and stuff.

I had a lot of loading error before the update somtimes all the loading panel on a chapter where red. Now I don't have these anymore so the update did improve something but the loading of old manga is really slow, I hope it will be fixed soon.

Temporary solution use VPN choose Russian if you can because MD server location IP was at this country. If you not have Russian VPN, try Europe because Russian is part of Europe. If still not have Europe VPN, try German it also of Europe. German location VPN work well to me.

I'm in Europe, still takes minutes to load a single page, i'm at a point where i open a lot of chapters in new tabs and go watch a movie while stuff loads.
