I normally don't care about this stuff but this is a dogshit way to drum up drama and is a pretty big red flag. If you let your sibling manipulate you that easily into hurting the person you love most in the world on purpose then you kinda deserve what happens.

I don’t mind the sister still being steadfast an anti. When you’ve seen the fallout it’s hard to forgive the person who hurt your sister.

That said there’s been a lot of incremental progress that should weigh more than it seems to. And intentionally doing the birthday ghosting yourself right after giving every sign you were reciprocating feelings by not squashing the story is kinda shit. If you’re forgiving someone it shouldn’t come with dishing the hurt back first so you’re somehow “even”. That’s what you do if you’re petty and burning the bridge for good.

Well that's a good way to make a character instantly unlikable as soon as they appear. I really don't like how easily Xiu waffled on her own thoughts. She went from "I can't wait to see her" to "Let's ghost her like she ghosted me" just because her sister slandered Youyan in what appears to be a 5 minute conversation. If she has doubts then she needs to talk to Youyan about it herself, not let her sister dictate what she should or should not do.

i think people have forgotten that youyan is a persistence predator and was told about the rescheduling of the flight by xiaoxiao the same day that xiu decided to reschedule (this is just xius perspective of last chapter and taking place only in the morning as compared to youtans which had the whole day). as shes a persistence predator, its likely youyan had already flew out that night to lingzhou with the intention to meet xiu and actually give her her cake.

but yes i do agree i dislike the sister already as she doesnt know what all youyan has been doing to try to make up, and knows its not going to be that easy

We as readers know what the response already is since we got to see her reaction already, but the decision to ghost was still made and still a crappy thing to do.

A Persistence predator, I just looked up to learn as we should do when we encounter things we aren't sure about, is a type of predator in the sense they have a goal/prey to achieve. Less so in the way a carnivore (abuser) will attack its prey, and more like how a herbivore will evolve to get to its existing food.

Basically, Youyan has a history of putting in the effort to get Xiu to give the relationship another try, but then failing to maintain the effort once her prize is won. It's like a form of neglect really.

And yes, if there is something Youyan needs to do to acknowledge and work to fix, then Xiu should communicate that, but I'm not sure if there is a type of communication that exists that is consistently effective enough to fix this form of neglect in such a short time and dramatic actions.

A Persistence predator, I just looked up to learn as we should do when we encounter things we aren't sure about,

I did look it up and it only seemed related to horror movie tropes outside of the animal context, like the antagonist in the Alien movie or Terminator, and not romance which this series is in. So it seemed out of context and overly harsh for a romance character which is why I asked. There’s enough romance tropes for this kind of character the negative horror trope reference seems wildly out of place unless there’s spoilers I’m unaware of.

There we go. It seemed to me she had been given permission to make amends in that way though. The pursuing part wasn’t a negative and she isn’t presented as dangerous.

I mean, I get it. She was hurt badly, perhaps irrevocably, by a similar situation in the past. She wants to give Youyan a taste of what that is like.

It's certainly not the "right" thing to do, but I understand it.
