More like they didn't change the script but the character's gender instead. One of them should be a guy, even the name sounds manly. But eh whatever.

At this point I'm wondering if the only reason the MC isn't a girl is because of the title.

I remember it right,
It was mentioned in the novel the reason petr wasn't tortured ( as much as he should have been, because he still was) was because oleg was too lazy to do it knowing petr was actually innocent.
Everybody who worked for the evil noble mage guy pretty much knew Petr was not guilty.
but condemed him anyway to remove him from power as he was considered incorruptible and too loyal.
There was no bromance in the original.

And again Olegs whole stick is that he is pretty powerful, but super lazy. and only get by because of his silver tongue and his servitude mentality.
Petr on the other hand is super loyal to the monarcy and would

die for his king, witch is why he was so quick to serve Alexander

normally i would agree. buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.
they were men in the original and i refuse to refer to them as her,hers and she even if they are so in the manga.
also the fact they gender swapped all of the main warriors is going to be a problem later on as well from a plot standpoint.

The prison warden : Oleg.
The captain of the guard : Petr che.
The first knight and secound knight : Pierce and Frank lampread.
The Archer : ( the one who got to be a personal bodyguard of the king because he got hurt defending the queen during the victory celebration whos name i forgot right now.... )

From the Diablo world we have :
Deckard chain is supposed to be an old man and not a young witch loli

like Petr, Pierce, frank Oleg and the archer are going to be gender bent to turn into some kind of harem.
And so far every male in the Diablo world have been gender bent too, so im gusseing that Warriv

only the characters from act 1 have any big importance so you dont see much of the other acts NPC with the exception of Archangel Tyrael(who is male 👺)

I might have missed someone but those are the once i can tell from the top of my head.

The fact that the Diablo world people is gender bent is honestlly not so bad, Becouse from a lore point all the females belong to the "Sisterhood of the sightless eye"
And other then Geed who turned into a fucking coward they have mostly the same personality and character traits.
But the main world knights have wastly diffrent character traits and personality to the point that its actively fucking up the story. ( Oleg and Frank are good examples of this )
And it makes it less believable as they are all soposed to be strong warrior men, and not some slim scantly clad warrior girl.
This is why pretty much everyone who read the original is super mad about the gender bending madness.

So far none of the antagonists have not been genderbend so there is a fairly good chase the other bosses of diablo 2 like Duriel, Diablo, Mephisto and Baal won't get genderbend.
Alongside the other male antagonists from the main world.

@GoldenZeal I have played a fair share of Diablo 2 so i knew those, but i just fought it was like that in the Ln as some sort of quirky thing, I didn’t imagine that almost literally everyone was genderbended lol. Well for me I don’t have an involvement with the original characters so i guess it doesn’t bother me as much, but i can definitely see why it’s annoying and that it can turn into quite the problem story wise.

Its an... acquired taste for sure, and certainly wont be appreciated by everybody.
But i would not say its trash.

Then again.... one mans trash is another mans treasure so i guess its a mater of perspective.
