The story is about a young knight trainee that can’t defeat his rival best friend who is a noble from the bloodline of a legendary hero. The mc has 2 best friends, his noble rival he can’t beat, and this girl who is adept at magic that has blonde or maybe pink hair.

While getting frustrated the mc cries out near the statue of the legendary hero and this sword talks to him. Turns out the legendary hero trapped himself/power in a sword for a worthy hero. Eventually he tells the mc he is worthy to be his successor but he puts him through really intensive training and makes him work for it. With his new found power and confidence he challenges his best friend who notices he has been training.

In his heart the rival makes plans to defeat his friend and recruit him and the girl best friend into his family fighting force if he defeats him, using the opportunity he presented. I can’t remember what happened because I didn’t get to this fight but his best friend is like a chill version of Griffith from Berserk minus the obvious bad stuff. The girl best friend is like a useful Sakura plus Ais Wallenstein from what I remember, but like a mage.
