Aww cut the kid some slack, he's probably got some trauma that we will never see, because this isn't that kind of story, that made him really cynical. I mean he's right, most people go about life smugly with fake smiles, and I've got a feeling that whatever caused him to be a disagreeable kid involved an adult that should've cared but didn't. I look forward to seeing how he'll change when faced with an adult that actually sees him as an individual person, possibly for the first time in his life.
