@Tcof The main group seems to jump back on this any time someone else wants to start translating it. Happens with some other titles too. In the general case it seems like they just don't want to lose their claim to the manga so they suddenly become active when it's threatened.

I don't see that the timeline really supports that interpretation of what motivates Fangéd Scans and Simple Scans, though the timeline is compatible with a theory that Poniente Scans began with a belief that Fangéd Scans and Simple Scans had stalled-out or abandoned the series.

In any case, MangaDex doesn't try to mediate rivalries amongst scanlation teams. But, since there are two coöperative pairs in the five teams involved in the scanlation of this series, one might hope that some joint arrangement of all five might develop. (I'm not counting the two further, somewhat weird scanlation groups.)

anyone is welcome to offer to help to simple and fanged.

and yet, not one group who has “picked” this up has offered to help before jumping on the series!

i can tell u that as one of the translators of this series, any of the other translations u see here thus far has questionable accuracy. some of the translations are downright wrong! and i can’t bear to see this series’ translations be butchered.
so with us, we are putting quality before quantity.

and i now have a very fast typesetter so we have stepped up our releasing pace.

@mommunism
we ain’t laying claim to nothing, nobody owns this 😶 tf?

P.s. read the note at the end of ch 8

@momojojo The fact that nobody has lended their effort to your group name is irrelevant to the discussion, as are the imperfect translations, which many readers don't mind. What matters is that you happen to release chapters as soon as anyone else tries to translate. In chapter 8 you said it just reminded you to release a complete chapter, but yet here you are doing the same thing again as soon as a different group tries to start. Could it be coincidence? Yes. Is it usually one when this kind of thing happens? No. And there absolutely is an implicit claim when it comes to scanlating, that's why terms like "sniping" exist, which I believe I've seen you use before.

@mommunism and any other readers
how is releasing another chapter 7 days after our last one strange?? look, i'm a scanlator with multiple projects and my own life, so until i had someone join our team to help out, faster releases weren't possible. so that is 100% relevant to this discussion. we gained a member since ch 8 was published, so it stands to reason we would release faster. .-. we have been slow, so i got another member because i know i can no longer realistically work on series as consistently.

accuracy IS important. dunno what u mean?? even if i wasn't a translator, i'd rather read a release that interpreted the japanese more accurately than a fast release. especially one that seems tertiary i.e. translated from two other languages first. and this "other title" u mentioned, no idea what u mean. this is the only series i'm doing with multiple tlors.

the point of that note was to describe what i just said below: we place quality before quantity. all i've done below is explain my position on this. i also pointed out that i have other life obligations, which u are free to ignore-- however, u cannot presume to know the purpose behind my actions or my group's without speaking to me directly. if that's not what u meant, then i apologize for misinterpreting what u said.

and you, as a reader, have a choice to choose between our releases or any others that come out. you are also free to vocalize ur opinion about scanlating. and i can do the same.
i stand by my stance that no one owns this or anything else and they're free to translate this as they like. but i'm not gonna obscure the fact that the other group is doing a poor job on the translating aspect. when more than one group translates, it's redundant, so that's usually why sniping is dumb.

i used snipe in my note becuz i was being facetious. text may not convey that but nothin can be done about that.

god this is long

@momojojo I already said it could be a coincidence in this case, but you can't say it doesn't look strange when you were uploading on a monthly or less schedule until the exact day that someone else started translating, at which point you picked up the pace. I did specifically say "in the general case" rather than accusing you of anything in my first comment because I don't know your situation.

Translation accuracy rarely affects the plot in a meaningful way, but chapters far enough apart for you to forget what's happening definitely do. It's fine if you have a different opinion on this, but again it isn't even relevant to the main topic, because it's not about whether you keep translating the series (I, of course, don't mind that), it's about the sudden escalation in releases. Also, when I said "other titles," I didn't say (or mean) other titles from you (I know LHT does this, for example).

If you were being facetious about sniping that's good, but the term exists because there are people who take it seriously and some of those groups have done exactly what happened here for the sake of their perceived claim on other titles. I also don't think a snipe can be redundant when it satisfies a condition that the other doesn't (in this case, an earlier release).

Yeah this version definitely reads a lot better than Poniente's version. The work is appreciated though from me since before the series was kinda sitting in limbo.

@mommunism dude chill out a little bit, you are reading a FREE work here, if you don't like it go read another translation or another lenguage, you don't need to be so bitter with the dude like they said, translators have a life and problems so maybe they now have better work conditions so they deliver faster.

@gigabarto What exactly is bitter about anything I've said here? There are always bound to be people like you who freak at any hint of criticism towards scanlators, but it doesn't even make sense in this case. Did you read my comments? I'm defending the other group here, nothing more. When groups like LHT do this they're sending a passive-aggressive message to the new group to stop translating, but even when it comes to Fanged I've gone out of my way to say/imply they could be in the right here in every single one of my comments. You're the one that needs to chill.

I'm glad that Himeno could behave like a kid at the end, I get that the whole premise of this manga is about her trying to be an adult way too fast but anyway, it's nice seeing her doing childish stuff, like she should.
