Lol @ the cishet people in the comments complaining about a more accurate portrayal of queer people and what it feels like to live as a queer person.

The comments about calling this ‚gender politics‘ and asking why the lesbian girl ‚doesn‘t just accept herself‘ are really telling.

Why is the author making it so hard on us to have the girl admit she is lesbian? It's been really obvious since some chapters ago that that is what is going on with the girl....but well there wouldn't be drama if they just found the answer just like that right?
In Japan same sex relationships are stigmatized more then being transgender. So it's like admiting your going to be discriminated against.

the watermelon ramen thing is normal, chilled noodles have things like apples, watermelons and other fruits stuff on it all the time
It's not what I should be taking from this chapter, but that plated parfait seems like it would be a pain to eat. Like, that's annoying me more than the watermelon ramen and Koto's behavior. There's a reason why they are in tall cup bowls! Otherwise you have to eat quickly before the ice cream starts melting everywhere. You can't even scoop up a portion of the toppings at the same time once it does that!

Satori has a girl friend and a cute one just like her, that beauty mark... that's so precious :hearts:

Get married already, geez...

Although Kotone seems to seemingly reconcile with Ryuunosuke, I'm sensing a death flag for her, she has lost her friend and the only love interest she was growing up with... she should join the cafe as a permanent staff.

Why dont the chick just full lesbian instead of trying to meet up with society standards. Knowing itll never work even if she is with mogu..(cant remember the rest)? Itll make her life most definitely will be easier plus she'll have a lotta support from everyone.
Hi, I'm from the future. Japan has accepted male gay romance from a long time ago but female gay romance, particularly long-term is still fairly taboo, even in 2026. Part of this is the pressure women have to get married and start making babies before turning 25, which is Japanese society's spinster status age gate.

There's also the aging population and the government propaganda push to get married at younger ages, despite the economy actually being fairly hostile to starting families. So women are considered a "waste" or some mild form of national traitor or betrayal of their family of birth if they don't go into hetero relationships and produce children.

I say "family of birth" because in the traditional marriage system the woman leaves her birth family upon marriage and becomes only a member of her husband's family. The system is structured such that women won't have strong feelings of autonomy.

Despite this, I do occasionally see gay and gender-queer women in Japan, but mostly in the big cities, though on occasion there'll be a cute couple in a cafe in my countryside town
