There's just something really funny about Inui recommending 500 Days of Summer. This dude does not come across as mature enough to understand that movie, let alone recommend it to someone else, and the girls even less so. Akari's a little more mature, but if she watches that with Yuna - a girl whose ideal is either Disney's Prince Philip or someone out of manga, a girl who until recently couldn't even figure out how to talk to a boy - I think they'd both just be shocked. (I'd be surprised if they even made it past the shower scene without dying of embarrassment.) On the other hand, maybe they also both need a better understanding of expectations vs reality...
On the other hand, I guess this was a nice way to show that there's more to Inui than just being the cute childhood friend next door. He has his own interests and dreams! He's actually genuinely into movies, not just as conversation filler! I still think 500 days is a really odd choice of movie for this (so far) very saccharine shoujo plot to include, but it made me curious. I was on the fence about continuing to read, but now I'm thinking it might be worth it to keep going.
