I remember a series of interviews about what actual victims of war thought of the game This War of Mine. They thought it was pretty realistic, other than that people were far more altruistic and helpful in real life. So if anything, removing modern conveniences would make people more saint-like, not less. At least as far as those interviews were concerned.
Both news and fiction tend to focus on the negative, on struggles and conflict. It's important to remember that what gets highlighted that way are the exceptions, not the norm.
So I stand by what I said: People, on the whole, are kind.
tbf it maybe survival bias, those that receive help, live longer to give interview. those that got take advantage of during war probably end in someone basement.
i stand by that human on the whole are natural,
i mean how many of us spend time on internet in computer make from zinc(?) mine by children or a father that work to the bone just for his child to follow his foot step. it not like we do not feel bad for them, but hey it better my iPhone is make cheap and not me mining sulfur. we are animal and anything we do is to better ourself and our circle.
we do not deserve to be call kind more than dog, cat or pig that we slaughter for meat. we know pig is smart enough to be like our children yet we still eat them, we understand that nutrition value is lost and food is waste if we eat meat, but we still do it.
we know that our politician probably let the poorest of us suffer just so they can live like king, but we do not fight for them do we? just complain on internet and let the elite class rule us as long as we aren't the one starve. it not like we enjoy people suffer, we just don't care. we hate change and we would let million die if our good life or hell a mediocre one stay the same. if we truly kind and care for each other, this world would be so much much better place.
sorry for all this yapping, but i just feel like we shouldn't lower standard for what is consider "kind" i feel like we should try harder to earn that.
