@ninjadork Idealism is bad. But also good. Just like every -ism it has both good sides and bad sides. Aside from some that only have good sides ofc. Like communism, or whatever else -ism makes americans mad. Joke aside, the exception are -ism's like that which are utopias in the meaning of unachievable. The reason they only have good sides are cause it is defined as such: if an implementation had anything bad, then by definition it wasn't the -ism it tried to implement.
That said, idealism is usually prone to quickly spiral out of control and become "evil". At which point it is usually also labeled as fanaticism, patriotism or naivete. You can easily see this all the time in history, particularly for anything related to religion or america. As the well-oiled adage goes, the road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
