Then when they found him to be 'useless', they put monster-luring item on him and tossed him into highly lethal zone.

He initially didn't want to get involved, but as long as the war continue, eventually it'll eventually affect the people he care about.

In ch 39 she made the order to take back the land.
Given how...terrified? she look while talking after, she's probably aware Filio might take this as a breach of their agreement, but maybe she share the commander's view of this area as 'human territory' unlike Filio who see it as the demons'.

Manga added so much extra drama while changing part of the story for whatever reason

Tbh, the only good part in this series (that I like) is the relationship/romance of the two MCs. Otherwise, it's bog-standard overpowered MC isekai. Actually, I don't really consider this a "real" isekai. it's some guy from a fantasy world that came from another but similar fantasy world!
