"I made it an excuse for everything."

This bit about him being "stuck" in his middle school years really and using that as an escape really puts his previous work in a new perspective, especially considering all of his infamous afterwords that he's written over the years.

It was a bit of a slow start, but it feels like this manga is finally "rolling", at least in terms of what most people expect from Oshimi. I like that he's pushing his art in a more sketchy direction as well, since it really fits the mood of this story.

is this an autobiography? there's some recognizable elements from his other works in this one
Yeah I picked up on the same. The stuttering, the introduction and complex feelings of sex and masturbation, the eye from Flowers of Evil, etc.

It feels like an autobiography of him growing up and showing his influences and feelings that inspired his other works.

But then again, these influences are stretched across his works so makes sense for them to be in this one too...it's just this MC seems more personal

I was wondering the same thing

His dad calls him Shuzo in chapter 3, it is an autobiography.

Fr. So Oshimi is now writing a manga about himself, or more like about his little brother.
This explains why many of his works have short haired tomboys who never ends up with the MC
