I think at this point we honestly know so little about their relationship it's hard to judge much of anything.
Plus not everyone grieves the same, I've had the misfortune of losing more friends than I'd like in the past few years and every one of their partners have processed it differently. One took it by becoming a work a holic the herself into charity with, another we practically had to stage an intervention for to get her talking to a grief counselor before she did something stupid.

It's only chapter 5 and it looks like the husbands little sister will show up next chapter so I think it's a little early to get on the author for not developing that plot point yet. If the sister shows up and doesn't tell us about their marriage then yeah the author is being weird about it.

She's not used goods and if Kei didn't show up she would have likely happily lived her life alone until she met someone else. She did originally support him in high school which is partly why he had a chance to become a mangaka.

People don't get together initially for a lot of reasons. It can be because of immaturity or life pulling people in opposite directions. Honestly you could argue that meeting later in life is better because both people would have had time to mature in ways that would have allowed their relationship to flourish.

I think the dead husband aspect is there to give a plausible reason for her to not be in love with the MC for the time being due to things like lingering feelings. It'll probably be a source of drama for her feeling guilty for starting to have feelings for the MC later on too.

There's nothing clear so far showing she definitely liked him in her younger years but in end of ch 3 we get a flashback in their high-school days showing a scene of them both blushing giving me the impression back then they both had feelings for each other. But yeah nothing clear cut as of yet of how she felt about him in the past and how she feels about him in the present. Pretty sure her present self isn't ready for new relationship and not ready to give up her memory and feelings for her dead husband. Kind of get the vibe the mc serves as an escape for her of what she's internally dealing inside. Who knows if anything romantic will build from them but atleast think the mc will help her heal from her baggage.
