I guess it’s just interesting that there’s some lore behind the mountain, and that the monk in this story (he's the same monk from chapter 1) actually owns it. I really thought this was simply an anthology of unrelated mountain horror stories.

I was about to make the point connecting this story back to chapter 1 as it took me off-guard.
Considering the order of events (tragedies) in the introductory page I assume the MC's other family accidentally fell victim to his mother's curses though it's a rather dark irony that the fire she presumably invoked which decimated the village also acted as a signal to help save the MC from dying in the well.

Thanks a lot for picking up this orphaned Koike Nokuto work BTW, alongside Tonari no Jii-san and Yuuan no Kanata.
Any interest in the future in further rescuing some of the author's other works like Kuromachi and Mushroom?

You're welcome! Really appreciate your comments.

I'll consider Mushroom but not sure about Kuromachi as horror-comedies are not my thing.

So, the monk is actually him from the 1st chapter and the cursed mountain is her mother's revenge but i still don't understand the rest of the story, from the beginning of his mother disappearance, did they put her down for a kind of sacrifice, witch hunt or something?

i somehow expected him to survive this because how it started by telling us that he's full of misfortune, didn't expect him to be the monk though.

Is this the same cursed mountain from Chapter 3 and the mom is related to that snake skin? I guess the question is how and why the mom is cursing everyone. Dunno why she would spare her son but go after her own daughter, husband and family.

Judging from the credits page which seems like the mother's face from when she was alive (which definitely wasn't from this chapter), we're going to get more explanation in future chapters.
