Yes, the entire thing you've just read is exactly as stupid as you think it is. It's a bit different from how it went in the WN, but that's exactly why I dropped the novel. Talked about it in the comments of an earlier chapter.

it was entirely played up for the gag at the start.
The whole thing was dragged out by the manga writers.
In the novel it was pretty much undone with a snap of a finger and it did not require a long procedure or anything.

Was it? I dont think it was as bad is it would seem. He and Elsa's brother both surprised. It happen all of sudden and old man got stun gun all sudden before he can do anything.
